Balistapus undulatus - The Undulate Trigger - Welcome to Triggerfish Central

Welcome to Triggerfish Central

These web pages provide a concentration point of information related to this small sub-family of marine fishes, and are intended to be of value to aquarists who wish to identify or learn more about them. The information centre is powered by three key page sets; the datafile, the catalogue; and the gallery.

Note: As you delve further into Triggerfish Central, just click on the shield image at the top of the menu frame over on the left to come straight back to this main page. Clicking the shield now will take you back to my homepage.

The datafile

Within the datafile you will find a spread of information which describes the Triggerfish family in general terms, including aquarium requirements, reproductive behaviour, locomotive method and a general outline.

The catalogue

Within the catalogue you will find a collection of textual information which describes each species, and gives brief data about each fish's habitat, distribution and diet. A thumbnail image is provided to help confirm a species' identification. The catalogue can be accessed by a common names index, a scientific names index, or via a thumbnail images visual index. Each entry in the catalogue contains a link to the same species in the image gallery.

The gallery

Within the gallery you will find a collection of thumbnail images which will further illustrate each species. Again the gallery can be accessed via either the common or scientific names. Each thumbnail image when clicked, will load the larger image, and image sizes are given under each thumbnail. The gallery contains photographs of wild and aquarium fish, and a selection of drawings, paintings and postage stamps which may be of interest. Each entry in the image gallery contains a link to the same species in the catalogue.
